Ingredients:
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 1 teaspoon ginger powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh coriander (optional) for garnish
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, mix the minced garlic, cumin, paprika, turmeric, ginger, cinnamon, olive oil, lemon juice, vinegar, salt, and pepper to create a marinade.
- Coat the chicken pieces thoroughly with the marinade, making sure the mixture gets into the skin and under the flesh. Let the chicken marinate for at least 2 hours, but preferably overnight for deeper flavor.
- For slow cooker chicken recipes, transfer the marinated chicken to the slow cooker. Add a little water or chicken broth to keep the chicken moist.
- Set your slow cooker to low heat and cook the chicken for 6-8 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is fully cooked and tender. If you prefer a crispy skin, you can finish the chicken under the broiler for a few minutes.
- Garnish with fresh coriander and serve with Moroccan flatbread (khobz) and a side of salad or vegetables.
